6 Tips for Improved Customer Service
December 14th, 2007 by Richelo Killian ·Oftentimes in the online world, many of us focus overly on making money and not enough on the people who in reality command the money that we are seeking. We focus too much on the products and the end result, and we fail to focus on customer service.
Well, simply as a reminder (or maybe as something brand-new to you), here are 6 tips for improved customer service.
- Be Courteous and Respectful to Everyone
No matter what happens, never demonstrate disrespect to anyone, and never lose your temper. Nothing is worth hurting yourself in the future. And whether you realize it or not, something you do today can come back to haunt you tomorrow. Therefore always treat everybody with politeness and with respect and you won’t have anything to worry about.
- Never “Fight” with a Customer
This fits along with Tip #1 and ought to be included there but it deserves to be mentioned twice. Never fight with a customer. You do not have to assume the policy that “the customer is always right” but you should never fight with a customer even when you recognize they are wrong.
- Always Give Superior Service
Commit to always giving superior service. No matter what, you will always provide superior service. No excuses. No exceptions. This will build customer loyalty like nothing else.
- Do Not Leave the Customer Dangling
Whether you do it yourself or you have other people do it for you, always be accessible to assist your customers. Do not allow an e-mail to go unanswered for more than a couple of hours, whenever possible, but definitely not more than a day. Not replying to questions or handling problems in a timely manner is a sure way to get refund requests and it is also an outstanding way to lose customers.
- Make Buying Easy
This is an obvious, yet frequently neglected, technique. Do not make your potential buyers jump through any hoops to buy from you. Make buying easy and as quick as possible.
- Concentrate on Acquiring Customers, Not Money
Although your business is all online, in the end it still boils down to a human buying from a human. Don’t ever forget that. Make sure your goal is to acquire customers and not to make money. Do what it takes to attract and keep customers and the money will automatically follow.
So there are 6 critical tips you should always remember. Apply these 6 techniques and you will have great customer service, which will land you many loyal customers, and in the end make you lots of money.
